"Before hearing about the Train The Trainer Certification Programme, I had a vague idea of nutrition and training. Being fresh out of school, I was not entirely sure about the way the body responds to different types of training and eating habits. "Before I joined the Train The Trainer Certification Programme to learn about muscle building, my only source of reference was flipping through pages of health magazines to get information. However, the methods provided by the experts are always complex and quite extreme to follow through without proper guidance and knowledge. As such, I have often adopted a start-stop approach when it comes to sticking to their training plans since they are really not easy to follow and I don’t get the ‘wow, this exercise is really working my muscle’ feeling after spending my time doing them.
Through the recommendation of a friend, I signed up for the Train The Trainer Certification Programme. The trainer Lionel Lim is very friendly. He taught us the basics and slowly progressed to the advanced exercise techniques. This was what I particularly liked as I could follow and allow my body to adjust slowly but confidently. In addition, safety and proper execution were their top priority so as to prevent any nasty injuries.
Besides learning about exercise, Lionel also imparted additional knowledge not found in books such as how our body works, how our mind limits our performance as well as interpersonal skills.
I’m happy to learn that the diet and training plans are actually customizable to us Asians. It’s not like those you see in the magazines that tells you to eat and train like the Westerners. In doing so, Lionel has taught us how to fish for ourselves. My diet and training plans are created by me to suit my active training needs as well as my busy schedule. It is not a run of the mill type which everyone else uses. Just to share, my diet consists of all the foods that are simple to get from the my neighbourhood supermarket.
Besides being my trainer, Lionel also set time aside as my mentor. He made me stick to the plans I committed for 2 weeks. And I did just that. And what a world of difference it has made. In just 2 weeks, I feel I have more energy and much fitter. My friends have commented that I have become more toned. It really is an ego booster to hear your friends complimenting you!
I’m sorry to say this but I have to. In the 3 days Train The Trainer Certification Programme, I actually learnt a great deal more than I would have had should I have continued reading those fitness magazines."
